BellSouth Telecom Provider
Telecom service providers are taking steps to roll out WiMAX. Back in June, 2005, BellSouth began a trial deploying wireless broadband service in Athens, Ga., using WiMax equipment from privately owned Navini Networks. BellSouth WiMax may eventually allow existing DSL subscribers to take their service with them via WiMax in areas where BellSouth provides no broadband DSL service.

Navini Networks & BellSouth
Navini Networks back in September, 2005 announced that BellSouth has launched a wireless broadband service in Athens, Ga., using Navini's pre-WiMAX equipment. Navini is the provider of the world's largest, non-line-of-sight, zero-install Ô portable wireless broadband network. At the end of 2005, BellSouth's wireless broadband service will be expanded to select Florida cities.

This commercial deployment of wireless broadband, with the help of Navini Networks, complements BellSouth's wireline strategy and extends the reach of our broadband service. The deployment of this technology demonstrates their continuing leadership in providing broadband to their customers.

This is a critical milestone for broadband wireless as an alternative broadband technology that adds new value to a service providers' business models. With a Tier 1 carrier demonstrating the validity of broadband wireless solutions and showing how the technology can enhance their service and product portfolio, the personal broadband vision of WiMax is gaining credibility and momentum.

Navini Networks shares BellSouth WiMax vision of providing easy to use, portable high speed broadband both in cities and regional areas. Navini's Ripwave equipment delivers for BellSouth today the portable/personal broadband functionality envisioned in WiMax 802.16e with a clear commitment and upgrade path. Clearly the WiMax vision is gaining momentum and Navini intends to stay at the forefront of this effort by actively supporting forward-looking customers such as BellSouth and the drive toward the 802.16e standard.
